Skjoldehamn Hood

skaldhoodOne of the most sold basics is the Skjoldehamn hood. This model hood was found near Skjoldehamn and was believed to be worn in the late Viking period and/or early Medieval period (1050-1090 AD).

My basic version of this hood is made from 100% boiled wool, mixed boiled wool/viscose or linen in many different colours. Contact me via Etsy or the contact page if you need a custom made Skjoldehamn hood.

Boiled Wool
This wool is stiff and dense. The fabric acts like felt and edges do not have to be seamed. Dry clean. Cold wash (at own risk). No iron.

Basic (machine sewn inside): 50

Boiled wool/viscose
This wool is thinner then the 100% boiled wool. It flows a bit more. The fabric acts like felt and edges do not have to be seamed. Dry clean. Cold wash (at own risk). No iron.

The 100% linen hoods are perfect for summer. They protect you from sunburn (never completely, please use sunscreen). Linen gets softer and stronger after wearing and washing.
