MTO: Kirtle

A kirtle is a base dress which was used from ancient Antiquity till the Medieval period. With just a few modifications it can be proper for a chosen age and place. I’s a perfect start for re-enactors. Below are some examples with estimated pricing. Pricing can vary when actually ordered. Kirtles are made to given measurements.

Material: Soft light linen (Beige/Sand/Natural)
Stitching: Invisible machine, visible by hand
Period: Viking, Early medieval
Model: 4 skirt gores and a tie at the neck. The tie is not commonly used. Great for underdress.

Material: Soft heavy linen (washed blue)
Stitching: Invisible machine, visible by hand
Extra: Handwoven linen trimming. Under this dress is the soft linen kirtle. Handwoven belt.
Period: Viking, Early medieval
Model: 4 skirt gores. Good for modern day use, because linen is cheaper than wool and it is easier to maintain.
